Whether enjoying the outdoors just by yourself or with friends and family, the scorching heat may hinder your experience, especially if you want to spend time in your back yard.

To enjoy your back yard without interruption from the heat, you can add some shade options. These options come at many different price points, so you can find one that fits your budget and also provides the shade you need to have an enjoyable summer.

Here are five shade options for most budgets:

Plant trees

Trees are an inexpensive and eco-friendly shade. You can hire a landscape designer or head to your local nursery for help choosing the best varieties for you.

The only challenge you may experience is the time it takes for a tree to grow.

But once fully grown, you can have full outdoor rooms under the canopy of a single shade tree. When strategically positioned, you will also enjoy lower energy costs for heating and cooling.

Add a pergola

If you are looking for an easy-to-assemble, permanent, and affordable shade, pergolas are a great option. They have different shapes and sizes that complement many house designs.

To create the perfect cozy pergola space, add a sofa, side table, rug, and outdoor lighting.

Add a gazebo

Gazebos are another permanent structure for shade. Its roof and open sides give you a multifunctional space with a shade while still having unhindered access to the summer breeze.

To make them more pleasant and attractive, you can hang flower boxes and train vines to grow up latticework.

Use umbrellas

Umbrellas are a great shade option if you want an affordable and easily movable option. You can choose between options at stores or make your own. They come as standalone umbrellas or a pole you can insert in the middle of a patio.

Use canopies

Canopies are another temporary option that you can set up whenever you need them. More so, it is easy to take down too. Plus, you can add accessories such as soft textiles, comfy cushions, and a small table.

Buy one at your local store or build it yourself.

Canopies, umbrellas, trees, gazebos, and pergolas will help you enjoy the summer with the perfect shade.
